Leica BLK 360 Laser Scanner: Revolution or Toy?
It was presented last year, and now the first scanners are about to be delivered. The BLK 360 laser scanner, developed in cooperation between Leica and Autodesk, can be ordered now. Hardly larger than a cola can, it is a new milestone in the field of compact devices. And the price is a declaration of war on FARO, who turned the industry upside down with the Focus 120 7 years ago.
But what can the BLK, which can only be bought online from $15,990, actually do? Data sets are still scarce, but the specifications on the Leica website arouse curiosity: HDR camera, also with a thermal imaging option, 60 m range, 3 different resolutions. Registration is carried out with Autodesk ReCap pro mobile and an Apple ipad pro. FARO has already countered and is offering the new Focus M70 for just over €20,000.
