3D laser scanning in Berlin: how can we help you?

3D laser scanning is the obvious choice for surveying large objects, as it still delivers very precise results even over considerable distances. Another advantage of 3D building surveying is the fact that a facade survey or a complete building survey can be carried out much faster than by manual surveying. This saves working time, which, as we all know, is becoming ever more expensive. In addition, laser-based boundary surveying and remote sensing using photogrammetry considerably shorten the time needed to prepare construction work.

What further benefits do you gain from 3D laser scanning in Berlin?

It is not only the architectural surveying of existing or newly constructed buildings that matters. Buildings often have to be planned around installations. Examples include complex production plants and power plant technology. For this, the dimensions of the equipment must be known precisely so that the necessary safety distances to the individual parts of the building can be taken into account when modelling the buildings. For architects, 3D laser scanning is therefore an important basis for their work, ensuring that their plans do not overlook the actual space requirements.

When designing entire urban districts, another aspect comes into play. The designs have to be presented in various places. It is not always possible to use the models built of the future districts. Here, too, 3D laser scanning helps by surveying the models and deriving visualisations of the building structures from the resulting point cloud. Post-processing is possible with special CAD and design programs. This means that virtual tours of the future districts can be offered at the presentations.

Architectural surveying helps to meet legal requirements

In Germany, the construction sector has many documentation obligations to fulfil. One example is the entry of new buildings in the cadastral map. This requires an exact building survey of the new building. A parallel boundary survey by 3D laser scanning can provide proof that the boundary setback distances prescribed by law and specified in the building permit have been observed.

At the same time, a terrain survey using photogrammetry or laser makes it possible to check in virtual visualisations whether, for example, a different orientation of the buildings could achieve better efficiency for a planned solar installation. A major advantage here is that 3D laser scanning not only captures the structure of the ground, but also maps the existing trees in the point cloud and in the virtual environment created from it.

Architectural surveying with a facade survey also forms an important basis for cost-benefit calculations. Here, too, the trend towards greater use of renewable energy plays an important role. Solar panels are now available that can be mounted completely vertically on a free-standing building. A facade survey accurate to the millimetre offers the opportunity to optimally adapt the configuration of the individual modules to the usable areas of the respective facade.

Do you need a facade survey or a boundary survey, or would you like to have a newly constructed building surveyed with 3D laser scanning? Then we are the right people to contact, as we already have extensive experience in 3D surveying of buildings!
